Samsung TV

Is it the Samsung TV, or the app you’re opening?

Every service we track is behaving normally right now, so the problem is more likely at your end than theirs. Two questions will narrow it down.

Fixes for the Samsung TV itself

Samsung TVs hold on to app data harder than most, so a cold start is the fix that works most often — and it is not the same as switching the TV off.

Try this first

Cold start the TV

about 2 minutes
  1. 1.Hold the power button on the remote until the TV switches off and comes back on.
  2. 2.Do not just tap it — a tap puts the TV in standby, which changes nothing.
  3. 3.Wait for the home screen before opening the app.
Then 2

Power cycle at the wall

about 3 minutes
  1. 1.Unplug the TV from the wall socket.
  2. 2.Hold the TV’s own power button — the one on the set, not the remote — for 10 seconds.
  3. 3.Plug it back in and switch it on.
Then 3

Update the TV software

about 15 minutes
  1. 1.Press Home, then go to Settings, then Support.
  2. 2.Choose Software Update, then Update Now.
  3. 3.Do not switch the TV off while it installs.
Then 4

Reinstall the app

about 5 minutes
  1. 1.Press Home and go to Apps, then the settings icon.
  2. 2.Select the app and choose Delete.
  3. 3.Cold start the TV using the first fix above.
  4. 4.Install the app again from the Apps store and sign in.
