What we collect
- The symptom you pick when you report a problem, and which service it was for.
- A coarse timestamp — the hour, not the second.
- A coarse region, no finer than country or large region, derived from your IP address and never stored more precisely than that.
- Enough signal to enforce one report per service per hour. See below — this is the sensitive part.
What we don’t collect
- Names, email addresses, or accounts. There are none to have.
- Precise location.
- Your browsing history, on this site or anywhere else.
- Anything that follows you to another site.
Rate limiting, and why it’s the awkward bit
Enforcing “one report per hour” requires something that distinguishes one person from another. Under both the GDPR and India’s DPDP Act, an IP address counts as personal data. So we hash it with a salt that rotates, keep the hash only as long as the rate-limit window lasts (60 minutes), and never store it in its raw form or alongside the report it gated. After the window passes, the hash is deleted and there is no way to link a report back to a person — including for us.
Stored on your device, not ours
Your answers in the two-question diagnostic stay in your browser for the session and are never sent to us. The last status you saw is kept locally so the page can still show you something if your connection drops. Both are cleared when you clear your browser data.
Advertising
This site is intended to carry advertising, which is what pays for it. Ad networks set their own cookies and may process data under their own terms. Where consent is required — in the EEA and the UK — you’ll be asked before any personalised advertising cookie is set, and the consent notice will never cover the answer you came for. California visitors can opt out of sharing.
This section will be completed with the named ad partners before advertising is switched on. Publishing a policy that lists partners we haven’t signed would be the same kind of lie the rest of the site exists to avoid.
