Reports over the last 24 hours

Still not working? Start here.
These are ordered by how often they work. The two questions above will get you a specific answer faster, but if you’d rather just try things, work down this list.
Try this first
Restart your router
about 5 minutes- 1.Unplug the router from the wall. If you have a separate modem, unplug that too.
- 2.Wait 30 seconds. This part matters — plugging it straight back in does not clear the fault.
- 3.Plug the modem back in first and wait until its lights stop flashing.
- 4.Plug the router back in and wait another minute.
- 5.Try again.
If that fails, 2
Force the app to close, then reopen it
about 1 minute- 1.Go back to your device’s home screen. Do not just leave the app running in the background.
- 2.On a streaming stick or smart TV, open Settings, then Apps, find the app, and choose Force stop.
- 3.On a phone, swipe up from the bottom and swipe the app away.
- 4.Open the app again and try to play something.
If that fails, 3
Clear the app’s stored data
about 3 minutes- 1.Open your device’s Settings.
- 2.Choose Apps, or Application Manager on some TVs.
- 3.Find the app in the list and select it.
- 4.Choose Clear cache. If that does not help, choose Clear data as well.
- 5.Open the app and sign in again.
If that fails, 4
Check this device’s connection
about 2 minutes- 1.Open Settings on the device, then Network.
- 2.Check the signal strength. If it is one or two bars, the device is too far from the router.
- 3.If the device uses a cable, unplug both ends and push them back in firmly.
- 4.Choose Test connection, or Check connection, if your device offers it.
If that fails, 5
Sign out and sign back in
about 3 minutes- 1.Open the app’s Settings or Account screen and sign out.
- 2.Sign in again with your email and password.
- 3.If sign-in fails, the problem is with the account rather than the device.

HBO Max’s track record
Every outage we’ve recorded, kept as it was recorded. We don’t edit past verdicts — if one turns out to have been wrong, the correction goes underneath it.
We haven’t recorded any HBO Max outages yet. That means we haven’t seen one since we started watching — not that HBO Max has never had one.
Common questions about HBO Max
- Is HBO Max down right now?
- We don't know. We have no usable signal for HBO Max at the moment, and we would rather say so than guess.
- Why is HBO Max not working for me?
- If HBO Max is working for most people but not for you, it's one of three things: the app on that device, that device's connection, or your network as a whole. Two questions will tell you which, and each answer comes with the fix. Find out what's wrong with HBO Max
- How do I report a HBO Max problem?
- Use the "Report a problem" button on this page and pick the closest symptom. It takes one tap, and there's no account, no email and nothing personal collected. Your report feeds the number at the top of this page.
- How do you know whether HBO Max is down?
- Three things: how many people are reporting problems compared with HBO Max's own normal level for this time of day, whether HBO Max responds to our servers, and whether HBO Max has admitted to an outage. Reports are the primary signal. We never treat a failed server check on its own as proof of an outage, because services block automated checkers. How we decide
