No

We check whether BritBox responds to our servers, and we watch for any outage it admits to. What we can’t yet do is call an outage from reports alone — not enough people report BritBox problems here yet for us to tell a real problem from an ordinary hour. So we show you the raw number and leave the interpreting to you, rather than dressing a guess up as a verdict.

That changes on its own. Once enough people report BritBox here, it moves to full tracking automatically — no decision required from us.

Not sure if it’s just you?

Two questions, about thirty seconds. We’ll tell you whether it’s your device, your network, or BritBox — and what to do about it.

These are ordered by how often they work. The two questions above will get you a specific answer faster, but if you’d rather just try things, work down this list.

Try this first

Restart your router

about 5 minutes
  1. 1.Unplug the router from the wall. If you have a separate modem, unplug that too.
  2. 2.Wait 30 seconds. This part matters — plugging it straight back in does not clear the fault.
  3. 3.Plug the modem back in first and wait until its lights stop flashing.
  4. 4.Plug the router back in and wait another minute.
  5. 5.Try again.
If that fails, 2

Force the app to close, then reopen it

about 1 minute
  1. 1.Go back to your device’s home screen. Do not just leave the app running in the background.
  2. 2.On a streaming stick or smart TV, open Settings, then Apps, find the app, and choose Force stop.
  3. 3.On a phone, swipe up from the bottom and swipe the app away.
  4. 4.Open the app again and try to play something.
If that fails, 3

Clear the app’s stored data

about 3 minutes
  1. 1.Open your device’s Settings.
  2. 2.Choose Apps, or Application Manager on some TVs.
  3. 3.Find the app in the list and select it.
  4. 4.Choose Clear cache. If that does not help, choose Clear data as well.
  5. 5.Open the app and sign in again.
If that fails, 4

Check this device’s connection

about 2 minutes
  1. 1.Open Settings on the device, then Network.
  2. 2.Check the signal strength. If it is one or two bars, the device is too far from the router.
  3. 3.If the device uses a cable, unplug both ends and push them back in firmly.
  4. 4.Choose Test connection, or Check connection, if your device offers it.
If that fails, 5

Sign out and sign back in

about 3 minutes
  1. 1.Open the app’s Settings or Account screen and sign out.
  2. 2.Sign in again with your email and password.
  3. 3.If sign-in fails, the problem is with the account rather than the device.
